The Department of the Air Force (DAF) announced its intention to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of optimizing the regional training environment necessary for aircrews of 4th and 5th Generation aircraft to accomplish current and future training within Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex (JPARC) airspace by addressing critical deficiencies in the size, dimensions, and attributes of airspace; spatial discontinuities between adjacent airspace sections; and inability to perform uninterrupted flight at low altitude. The Notice of Intent was published in the Federal Register on January 8, 2026.

The scoping period has begun. The Department of the Air Force is soliciting comments on the Proposed Action and the preliminary alternatives. Comments can be submitted online here or by mailing to: JPARC Airspace EIS, c/o Stantec, 501 Butler Farm Rd., Suite H, Hampton, VA 23666. To ensure full consideration of comments in preparing the Draft EIS, comments should be submitted by February 9, 2026.
